The 30-day public comment period for the CDBG Disaster Recovery Action Plan for the State of Michigan 2020 & 2021 Disaster Events, Substantial Amendment #3 (CDBG-DR Substantial Amendment #3) will begin on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
In May 2022, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that the State of Michigan would receive $59,898,000 in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds in response to the significant flooding and damage that occurred in Midland, Saginaw, and Gladwin counties after days of severe storms hit Michigan two years prior, in May 2020. During the storm pattern, hundreds of homes and businesses were damaged along the Tittabawassee River, causing two aging dams to fail, destroying roadways and bridges, and forcing the temporary evacuation of more than 10,000 residents.
The draft CDBG-DR Substantial Amendment #3 proposes reallocating unspent funds from the Planning and Multifamily Housing programs into the Infrastructure & Public Facilities program.
