Learn more about Public Spaces Community Places
Public Spaces Community Places is a grant match program that utilizes donation-based crowdfunding to generate public interest and funding to revitalize or create public spaces. Communities, nonprofits, and municipalities can submit projects by applying for a Patronicity crowdgranting campaign. Crowdgranting utilizes web-based donations, so projects are accessible to anyone willing to donate in real-time.
This year, PSCP hit a major milestone awarding $10 million in matching funds to more than 300 projects across the State of Michigan since 2014 – from the Copper Country Curling Club in
Calumet, an off-leash dog park in Detroit, and the Bright Walls Mural Festival in Jackson.

The “Drill Shop” in Calumet was originally built in 1885 as a manufacturing facility for drilling equipment. The building sat vacant for nearly 40 years before it was renovated by the Copper Country Curling Club. The club partnered with Patronicity to launch a community crowdfunding campaign supported by matching funds through MEDC’s Public Spaces, Community Places program.
