Russell Woods-Sullivan Historic District Project
The Russell Woods-Sullivan Historic District, located in northwest Detroit, is being nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. The nomination will be presented to the State Historic Preservation Review Board for their consideration and recommendation at their September 25, 2026 public meeting.
This is a large district comprising more than 950 properties generally bounded by West Davison Street on the north, Dexter Avenue on the east, the south side of Cortland Street on the south, and Livernois Avenue to the west. The district was designated as a local historic district by the City of Detroit in 1999. The National Register is a separate designation program with separate outcomes.
