Certified Local Government Grant Program

The FY26 Grant Application Period Closed February 6, 2026.

Michigan communities that have entered into the Certified Local Government (CLG) program by the application deadline are eligible to apply for project grants from SHPO. Non-profits and public entities within a CLG community can also partner with the CLG on an application. Funding is available in two categories: (1) pre-development and development projects and (2) planning, documentation, and education projects.

FY26 applications were due by February 6, 2026. The next application round is anticipated to open in fall 2026. Application materials from the FY26 round are still available below for planning purposes only so that potential future applicants can see the type of information typically required for a CLG grant application. Updated materials will be made available in advance of the next application round.
