2022 WRI Funding Round - CLOSED

ROUND CLOSED

2022 Water-Related Infrastructure (WRI) Funding Announcement

On behalf of the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is accepting Applications for new projects under the State of Michigan’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2022 Water-Related Infrastructure (WRI) program.

The CDBG WRI program is designed to assist Units of General Local Government (UGLGs) in making necessary improvements to their existing public infrastructure systems.

The following are not eligible:

  • The extension of existing utilities for future growth and/or transportation-only projects.
  • Entitlement Communities
  • UGLGs who received a 2020 Infrastructure and Resiliency Grant (IR) or 2021 Water-Related Infrastructure (WRI) grant

Projects must be located in a Community listed on the CDBG Low/Mod Income Community Customers and Project Areas list and the project must benefit the entire community. No new surveys are currently being accepted as a result of the COVID-19 economic impact experienced across the state.

The grant request for traditional infrastructure is between $500,000 and $2,000,000. Due to funding limitations, only one submission per community is allowed.

The project will be required to be completed by December 31, 2024. If a project’s timing cannot accommodate this requirement, an application should not be submitted. This will be strictly enforced and extensions will not be allowed.

Certified Grant Administrators (CGAs) will be required. The associated costs are eligible for CDBG funding. Procurement of a CGA will occur after award announcement.
