Green Book Community Input
The Michigan SHPO has partnered with Firefly Preservation Consulting to complete the African American Recreational Tourism and Negro Motorist Green Book Sites in Michigan project. The project explores businesses listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book and seeks to ascertain these properties' current status.
The materials offered at the links below will help to acquaint you with the project, including a comprehensive index of all Green Book businesses listed in Michigan, a recording of the project kickoff presentation, and slide show.
Many of the original Green Book entries had incomplete addresses, or perhaps a city or town was listed with no specific address given. We need your help! If you have information to share about a Michigan Green Book property, or know someone who might, we would love to connect with you to learn more.
