Archaeology Projects in Michigan
Archaeological investigations take place in Michigan every summer. Several of these projects are archaeological field schools aimed at teaching excavation techniques to college students, but others allow a first-hand look for the general public to see archaeologists at work. There are excavations going on every summer at Fort Michilimackinac. Western Michigan University holds an annual open house in August at their Fort St. Joseph project, and the Oxbow group in Midland excavates on Saturdays during the summer and may accept volunteers.
