Information for Archaeological Consultants
Due to limited resources, we are not able to do site file checks for consultants. It is recommended that you make an appointment to use the Archaeological Site File in person. Please call 517-335-9840 to speak with a staff person.
Please note that Michigan's archaeological site file data are not yet available digitally.
Because the Archaeological Site File contains sensitive information, we restrict access to the site file records. In general, access to the site file is provided to archaeological consultants, researchers, planners, engineers, and others who have a legitimate need to examine site file information for research purposes or to identify and protect archaeological sites during project planning and implementation. Please contact the State Archaeologist to inquire about access to the Archaeological Site File.
